Bif Naked - Moment of Weakness. Holy crap, I loved this song back in ‘99.

Confession: before watching this, I was also watching videos by Gravity Kills, hed (pe), Orgy, Powerman 5000, & Stabbing Westward - songs from my college era. I think Stabbing Westward was so-so & Orgy’s “Dreams in Digital” was ok, but all the rest are unforgivable, I suppose. I’m not sure exactly I’m thinking about my college years in Buffalo. Maybe watching that Travel Channel episode of “Food Wars” set in Buffalo had something to do it. BTW, Duff’s Buffalo wings were always the best - you don’t need a panel of 5 random people or the Travel Channel to find that out.

Also, Powerman 5000’s “Nobody’s Real” is my new guilty pleasure song.

For the last few months, every Wednesday night from 7-9pm, I have been improvising a form called “The Wake” with several amazing performers, with Alex Marino coaching us on the side. Part Evente, part Sleepover, & part whiskey, it has been the most fun I have had improvising with a group lately.

We’ll be making our debut next Sunday night. The lineup at the end of the video should tell you how sick this show will be.

I was very fortunate to see this show 9 years ago when I first heard that the Upright Citizens Brigade had a theater in NYC. Almost immediately after this show, I bought the CD. Having seen Dancer in the Dark a few months before this show, his Björk tech-support operator nearly destroyed me that night.

I remember watching this in college back in ‘98, a year after the Star Wars Trilogy was re-released in theaters with additional scenes and “The Phantom Menace” was a year away. When I first saw this, I thought, “This is the most amazing thing ever done with action figures!” Obviously, I didn’t see a lot of films with action figures at that point, but the nerd in me was stoked beyond belief.

I’m actually pretty glad to see that Evan Mather is still out there making more short films, even if they don’t involve any Lando & Obi-Wai action figures making out.

Actually, that’s Richard Hunt right handing for Henson. He was a very accomplished and trusted puppeteer in his own right and is known for being the puppeteer behind Scooter, Janice and Sesame Street’s Glady’s the cow. Apparently right arming for a muppet is a very difficult position and the two performers have to have a lot of trust in each other and be very well coordinated. Don’t fuck with my man Hunt.
