YES.

$22.99

2 things:
1. I’m a little amazed that a 2 CD set would sell at that high a price in this day & age.
2. The description fucking kills me.

I’m part of InvAsian tonight at 7pm at the PIT!  Should be a blast!

poupak:

I have quite a few shows coming up between now and December 20. Wonderful things just keep happening, and 2011 keeps kicking some serious butt when it comes to GREAT years! So I’m grateful for 2011 so far.

Here are some happening this weekend:

  • This Improvised Life (Sat. nov. 26, 6 pm, the PIT, $5, free with any student ID from any improv school)
  • Kevin Mullaney, host of the Improv Resource Center Podcast, has brought together a few friends for a one time show at the PIT. They will pick a theme from the audience and present improvised stories about that theme. A fun night of theatre for your ears, a radio show without the radio.
Guests: Kurt Braunohler, Becky Drysdale, Kevin Hines, Jodi Lennon, Jed Resnik, Ashley Ward
You can make reservations here, and see the Facebook invite here.
    • InvAsian (Sat. Nov 26, 7 pm, the PIT, $5, free with any student ID from any improv school)
A team of performers from all three improv theaters, who have one thing in common: they are all Asian! Come see the diversity of the Asian continent.  Hilarity guaranteed.
With: Chris Grace, Phil Magbitang, Nicole Pasquale, Woody Fu, Tony Mui, Shalini Tripathi, Nicole C. Lee, Binu Paulose and Poupak Sepehri
Make reservations here. Facebook invite here.
I am INCREDIBLY proud to be a part of this team of amazing performers!
  • Come on out and laugh and hang with us!

A reminder to everyone: Christmas is a time for giving, but be sure to know who you give your money to.

The Salvation Army does great work in feeding and supporting the homeless.
It also does a great job of telling GLBTQA homeless people that they are somehow wrong, inferior, lesser than, messed up. It tells them that love and companionship are not available to them. It gives them a hot meal and then tells them that they are not entitled to mutual trust and support.
I think that is a very dangerous thing to tell someone who is down on their luck (to say the absolute least), and that is why I choose to donate elsewhere.

Reminder.

My mom has a bag of clothing that she planned to donate to the Salvation Army. I’m going to ask her to consider another group to donate to.

So there was a hiatus last month but it was brief, thankfully.  But Couples’ Retreat is back at 8pm tonight at Peoples Improv Theater (PIT) Underground!

Peep the lineup of awesome duos performing tonight!

    - The Best (Caitlin Steitzer & Chris Principe)
    - We Are Crabs (Nicholas Feitel & Emily Newhouse)
    - The Edge (Michael Condon & Dan Dilmaghani)
    - Assembly Line (Rhonda Underwood & Nicole Ayache)
    - RuBin (Ruby Marez & Binu Paulose)

    Don’t miss this!

    Muffins in the Window

One of the earliest shows we’ve ever done was at Muffins in the Window in March 2010.  Even though technically we had been together since October ‘09, we had a bit of a break in between & had trouble booking shows.

Then we saw this variety show open up (hosted by Stephen Michael Rondel & Molly Lloyd) & thought, “Well, why don’t we try this?  It’s a stage - it’s an opportunity!”  And it was so much fun!

Well we’re back tonight, 8pm at Muffins in the Window at the New Acting Company Theater (219 Sullivan Street between West 3rd and Bleecker St.) to rock this show!  This show will bring nothing but the same usual awesomeness.  Here’s the lineup of performers tonight:

    VILOET UPRISING
    JAY WELCH
    RUBIN (that’s US!)
    KIRKDIFY
    DANGER PIN
    SARA LYONS
    A Video by DAVID HEILMAN
And the New York Premiere of Gula Delgato’s “Whiskey Trail”

    Did we mention it’s FREE?!?

Come on by tonight & say hi!

    “I’m stupid! I’m stupid!”

I will never grow tired of Starscream’s pleadings to Megatron whenever he fucks up in the midst of a Deceptacon power trip.

We demand that NBC reverse its crazy decision to ‘bench’ Community. The show is the best one on TV and NBC should renew it immediately!

    rubincomedy:

This is it! The final part of our whole story of our trip to Toronto! We meet Moniquea, Colin & her cat! We have our show at the Comedy Bar that night! Do we care that it’s good or bad because of the 12 hour trip?

Of course we do - we’re sensitive!

That said, we’d like to give a big shout out to the following people because we love you:

    • Moniquea Marion (who performed in our show that night) & her husband Colin (both wonderful people!)
    • Adrianne Gagnon, executive producer of the Toronto Improv Festival (really nice person who did a fantastic job with helping to organize this festival)
    • Megan Gray (the greatest improv coach in the world of RuBin!)
    • Rachel Hamilton (without her, RuBin does not exist)
    • To all of our friends & family in this improv community that donated to our fundraisers to help get us to Toronto (thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou)
    • And thank you to everyone that’s been so kind to us in these last 2 years to ask us to play your shows, to tell us how much you liked our shows, and to come play at our shows as well.  We’re just amazingly grateful for all the support we’ve gotten from everyone in this community.

This trip meant a lot to us to get there, even if it is a 12 hour trip to perform a 25 minute show.  But it was totally worth it.  We would do it again in a heartbeat, except change the Megabus to either an Amtrak or Porter Air flight and if Binu remembered his passport.

We love you.  Let’s keep this party going because this is too much fun!

    The Perfect Improv Scene

Reblogged for any improvisers out there.

    rubincomedy:

Episode 8 of our trip to Toronto & the Toronto Improv Festival is up!

A guy on our bus gets detained at the border!  We think he’s a terrible smuggler.

Also Ruby has an international calling plan once she crosses the border, so passengers hit her up to make some calls.  It’s Ruby’s call service.

Also who would we cast to play ourselves if we sold the rights to our story?

    rubincomedy:

    Episode 7 is HERE!

Paolo is gone & we get a new bus driver at Buffalo - HURRAY!  But Binu discovers that he forgot his passport!  How do they somehow cross the U.S./Canadian border?

I don’t recommend anyone else should try this unless you have a family member and/or friend at home that has access to a color scanner.  It’s obviously better to bring your U.S. passport in when going to any foreign country, especially Canada.

And yes, I’m aware that Toronto is NOT a country.  The shit that pops out of my mouth in the moment.
